Oralite IMO/SOLAS FD1403 (M82) Marine Microprismatic Retroreflective Conspicuity Tape is a tough weather and solvent resistant product designed for rugged outdoor maritime use.
Oralite is the Oracal Group's new brand name for Reflexite. It is compliant with U.S. Department of Transportation specification USCG 46 CFR, section 164.018 and International Maritime Organization (IMO) Resolution A.658(16). The approval is for Type I and Type II. IMO/SOLAS (Safety Of Life At Sea) FD1403 (M82) reflective material is composed of cube corner (microprism) retroreflective elements integrally bonded to a flexible, smooth-surfaced tough and weather resistant UV stabilized polymeric film. The prism surfaces are to provide a mirror surface to the prism facets. The resulting film is not more than 0.008" thick, and comes coated with an aggressive pressure sensitive adhesive.
Designed to withstand the marine environment, FD1403 survives continuous immersion in seawater, sub-freezing temperatures, and intense exposure to sunlight, guano and harsh weather. Ideal for rigid and flexible applications such as dayboards, buoys and channel markers, boat striping. High-brightness Oralite material is visible at distances of more than one kilometer.
