Blue Ox Base Plate is engineered to be shock absorbing and integrated into the individual bumper frame. It is designed to let the base plate torsion or flex, so that it absorbs the forces of towing rather than rigidly transferring to the frame of the towed vehicle. This base plate is positioned for proper attachment to the frame and for easy access to hook up the tow bar.
