BSP (British Standard Pipe) size was originally based on the inner diameter measured in inches of a steel
tube for which the male thread was intended.
This often causes confusion ,as people think the BSP size refers to the outside diameter of the male thread .
Example:so if i want to fit a thread measuring 1” you would order 3/4” BSP -- see the chart below
