Optimally Removes Surface Oils and Debris: The Black Hole Skimmer self-positions its floating skimmer head at the perfect depth for surface water to enter the skimmer, allowing the water to behave much like a tablecloth sliding off a table. This innovative design enables the skimmer to work equally well in tanks from 20 gallons up to 225 gallons and beyond, and also work well with water flows from 160 to 900 gallons per hour, ensuring a cleaner and healthier aquarium environment.
Aerates your aquarium: As the water falls into the skimmer, air is mixed into the water and deposited deeper into the tank. This process helps keep the entire tank healthier for plants and inhabitants by providing deeper aeration than external filters that only flow onto the surface of the water.
Fish Safe: Includes a GuppyGuard that helps keep fish from entering the skimmer. The Black Hole Skimmer does not suck water into the skimmer; it simply allows water to flow into it. Fish or other tank inhabitants must swim into the skimmer. The GuppyGuard has 2mm slots that prevent any creature wider than 2mm from entering. Also includes the GuppyGuard Topper that prevents creatures from jumping or climbing over the GuppyGuard. Very small creatures that manage to get inside can be spotted through the clear floating skimmer assembly and should be safe, as the body of the skimmer is large enough to be a gentle host to guest fish.
Hassle-free and easy to maintain: The floating skimmer head will self-adjust to most water flows, even when the water slows due to clogged filter media. There are no flow controls for fine adjustments, as these adjustments are not needed. The skimmer is simple to clean and requires no special tools. Simply unscrew the skimmer from its stand, open it and clean the filter media, close it, and then screw it back onto the stand.
