The “Eye” Concept Objects that have been used for thousands of years by people with the belief that they would be protected against bad luck and various forms of misfortune still continue to be revered today. Among the most popular are objects that feature evil eye motifs. The idea that malevolent stares could be powerful was much more prevalent in the ancient world, and it is still taken seriously by many today. The Turkish word for evil eye is “Nazar”, which derives from Arabic and literally means “look” or “glare”. The history of evil eye spans cultures, dating all the way from ancient Mesopotamia, Greece, Rome and Medieval Europe to modern times. Millions of people around the world still believe in the power of many millennia old magical objects, and use them to protect themselves. With our Nazar creations, we aim to bring a new design approach to this age-old tradition. In addition to glass, we also use different kinds of materials such as fabric, copper, wood and marble in our designs to enrich our collections. Through the application of traditional Anatolian handcrafts, we are able to offer precious and timeless gift alternatives. We hope that our evil eye themed objects will bring good fortune to all. “Aydan Öner – İstanbul” , established in 2012 , has been in design business for the past 10 years.
