Alebrijes are brightly colored Mexican sculptures of fantastical creatures hand carved and hand painted by the people of OAXACA. In Oaxaca, Mexico it is believed that every person has a spirit guide, protectors and mischief guide which they call ALEBRIJES which means "imaginary" or "fantasy". These Alebrijes are hand carved and painted with exceptional paint schemes. Great for gifts, display and any occasion. Alebrijes are traditionally use for ofrendas "offerings" on el Dia de Los Muertos "Day of the Dead".
