The Hoya R72 Infra-Red filter is specially designed for infrared photography with digital cameras and infrared films.
The red infrared light begins in the upper area of the visible spectrum to 750 Nm and rises beyond 1000 nm. This light is not visible to the naked eye. In looking through the R72 filter, it appears almost opaque red as the filter is only based on the very top of the visible spectrum and infrared light. Infrared photography the results are very interesting, sometimes stunning and creative, as the subject of a scene reflects the infrared light differently from the normal light.
Due to the nature of the infrared light, the filter factor and the wide range of visible light exposure compensation and very dependent on to the light.
- Works well with digital cameras, in particular the mirrorless cameras or DSLRs with build in IR-CUT filter in front of the sensor. (Please check the manual of your camera)
- Can only light to pass to 720nm (Red Top) and above. The results are more predictable than the filter that only lets the infrared light over 850 or 900 nm.
- The Hoya Hoya R72 is built using a high quality optical glass mounted in a precision milled aluminium frame which provides stiffness.
- Consistent quality, made in Japan
- Can be paired with a black and white contrast filters such as the R25 (Red), K2 (yellow), O (Orange) or other colour filters to change the colour rendering and effects of contrast.
