Don't forget that your first burn sets the pattern for those that follow, and so you should ensure that you have at least an hour, or more, to let your candle burn after the first light. The entire top layer should be completely melted before the flame is extinguished as this will keep your candle from tunneling with future use and increase the longevity of your candle. It is also important to trim before each use to avoid discoloration, erratic flame patterns, and sparking. Once your candle has fully burned and all of the wax has melted you can repurpose this vessel into a small catch all.
