  • A BETTER ALTERNATIVE TO SPIRALS – Delivers premium cut quality at roughly half the price of similar solid-carbide spiral or compression pattern bits.
  • REVOLUTIONARY CUTTING GEOMETRY – Alternating shear flutes minimize grain lifting, eliminate grabbing on entry and handle reverse-grain swirls cleanly.
  • OPTIMIZED FOR PATTERN ROUTING – 1-1/4" diameter cutting arc and refined blade bevels produce crisp edges even in difficult hardwoods like quilted maple.
  • AMERICAN MADE QUALITY - Like all Ultra-Shear Router Bits, each Alternating Shear Pattern & Flush Trim Compression Router Bit Bit is made in Strongsville, Ohio.

Description

Ultra-Shear's 4-Flute Alternating-Shear Pattern and Flush Trim Bits cut like nothing else we've built or tested. You'll notice lower feed resistance, clean handling of reverse grain, virtually no grabbing on entry and a surface finish that looks ready for varnish. These bits represent a new direction in carbide-tipped geometry.

Brazing carbide at a shear angle isn't new—but previous designs used just two flutes, sometimes three, and always with a single shear direction. These new Ultra-Shear bits feature four flutes, each alternating between up-cut and down-cut shear angles. Contrary to expectations, the design doesn't fight itself—it glides through stock with remarkable ease.

Blade bevels are optimized for clean cutting and long edge life. At 1-1/4" diameter, the mass and cutting arc combine with the alternating shear geometry to produce smooth cuts and virtually no grain lifting, even in demanding woods such as quilted hard maple.

These bits also deliver performance normally associated with solid carbide spirals or compression bits—at roughly half the price. Ultra-Shear uses state-of-the-art CNC grinding equipment, premium carbide blanks, and skilled Northeast Ohio machinists to produce American-made router bits at highly competitive direct-from-manufacturer pricing.

Made in the USA in Woodpeckers' Strongsville, Ohio facility.
