Why Do You Need Both NO and NC Switches? Most microwaves use a 3-switch safety system in the door latch to prevent microwave radiation leakage:
Normally Open (NO) Switches: Used as the Primary and Secondary interlocks. The circuit connects only when the door is closed (pressing the button).
Normally Closed (NC) Switches: Used as the Monitor switch. The circuit connects when the door is open (button released) to short out the system and blow the fuse if the other switches fail.
