Special Features

  • Hurricane Ties, also known as rafter or truss ties, are used for deck or roof framing to secure rafters, trusses, or joists to the wood framework. This is done to resist uplift and lateral forces, such as those that come from a hurricane or severe storm. Proudly made in the USA.
  • H2 Hurricane Ties are installed on three different pieces of wood: a vertical post, the perpendicular top plate or wall plate, and a rafter. H2 ties are installed across all three pieces of lumber, securing them together (see image for example).
  • All Hurricane ties in this selection are made of 316 Stainless Steel for superior corrosion resistance. 316 Stainless Steel is well suited for applications in severe, harsh, or marine or saltwater environments. 316 Stainless steel hurricane ties should only be installed with 316 stainless steel nails to maintain the manufacturer's warranty.
  • Please note: depending on pitch, birdsmouth notching may be required with some models to enable installers to fill all nail holes. Caution: Do not install Hurricane ties into both sides of a given truss, rafter, or joist. Doing so may cause damages in the wood and risks collision of the nails (see image). Instead, install them diagonally across from each other.
