Description

WRITE UP: Tiger's eye is a member of the chalcedony family, exhibiting parallel intergrowths of quartz and altered amphibole. Its defining traits are a silky luster and the captivating cat's eye "chatoyancy", visible in various bands of light and dark golden browns. This particular tiger's eye was originally golden-brown, but was subsequently heated-treated to approximately 400 degrees Fahrenheit to bring out a dark, earthy-red color. Crushed red tiger's eye is rare because it is often mixed with gold tiger's eye due to the incomplete heat treatment process of the mineral.
