Regarding Safelighting, proper illumination is vital for achieving a crisp duplicate. Utilize a GBX-2 Safelight (ruby red filter) or an equivalent in your darkroom to avoid unwanted fogging. Ensure the safelight has a 15-watt frosted bulb and is positioned four feet away from the film. Concerning Film Orientation, this is a single-emulsion type with coating on just one side. The non-emulsion dark side features a backing or pelloid that blocks light from passing back through, reducing blur and enhancing image sharpness. This backing is forest green to distinguish it from the salmon pink emulsion side. For Exposure, unlike typical dental film, X-OMAT 2 is a direct positive film. To achieve darker films (increased densities), decrease exposure time; conversely, increase exposure time for lighter films (decreased densities).
