Function: The drive gear transmits power to rotate the workpiece, while the movable center rotates freely, thereby reducing friction and preventing the workpiece from burning.
Compatibility: The drive center mounts directly onto the unique 5/8-inch spindle housing via a single 5/16-18 hex socket screw. The live center features a standard #2 Morse taper (MT2) and fits directly into the tailstock sleeve. Compatible with all Mark V models (500, 510, 520, 7), as well as earlier 10E and 10ER models.
Steel Construction: Both centers are machined from heavy-duty steel to withstand the immense forces generated during turning.
Drive Gear and Live Center Combined: The kit includes everything needed to start spindle turning immediately. The drive gear is mounted in the headstock to drive the workpiece. The live center is mounted in the tailstock, providing smooth rotation via a bearing to support the other end of the workpiece—no wax or lubricant required.
