In 1958 the Marine Rifle Sharpshooter Badge was modified as the display name changed to Rifle Sharpshooter. Also, the target of the center of the Maltese cross was modified and changed in favor of the Marine Corps emblem. This badge is awarded to pro sharpshooters for qualified rifle shooting and worn on the official United States Marine uniform. This badge is officially hallmarked and approved by the U.S. Institute of Heraldry and is immediately ready for uniform use. Measures at 1 ½ inch with a mirror finish and is made in the USA.
