Introduction to Platinum-Rhodium Wire
Type S Thermocouple Wire Material
Positive electrode (SP) is platinum-rhodium alloy containing 10% rhodium and 90% platinum. Negative electrode (SN) is pure platinum, commonly known as single platinum-rhodium thermocouple. Long-term operating temperature: 1300°C; short-term exposure: up to 1600°C.
Type R Thermocouple Wire Material
Positive electrode (RP) is platinum-rhodium alloy containing 13% rhodium and 87% platinum. Negative electrode (RN) is pure platinum, commonly known as single platinum-rhodium thermocouple. Long-term operating temperature: 1300°C; short-term exposure: up to 1600°C.
Type B Thermocouple Wire Material
Positive electrode (BP) is platinum-rhodium alloy containing 30% rhodium and 70% platinum. Negative electrode (BN) is platinum-rhodium alloy containing 6% rhodium and 94% platinum, commonly known as dual platinum-rhodium thermocouple. Long-term operating temperature: 1600°C; short-term exposure: up to 1800°C.
