SUITED FOR ALL SIZES OF TALKING DRUM - It is suited for all sizes of talking drum, tama, or dondo. Stick dimensions: 12 x 0.75 x 0.75 inches. After import from Africa, each drum stick is cleaned, inspected, tuned, and played individually to check quality.
HAND-CARVED IN GHANA – The stick is handcarved in Ghana out of lightwood. The curve is secured with string or leather, sometimes wrapped for added strength. As a hand-carved item, each stick will vary slightly in size and shape.
CURVED DESIGN FOR CONTROL & SAFETY - The curved playing end allows for ideal positioning to strike a drum head held near the player's body. The wide, flat head makes playing on thin-skin drums more safe and controlled.
NOTE: Wood sticks should never be used on high tension drums with thinner animal skins, including most djembes, ashikos, doumbeks, etc. If you are unsure whether mallet use is appropriate for your particular drum, contact us and we'll try to help.
SUPPORTING COMMUNITY AND TRADITION – Our instruments are unique. All products of Africa HeartWood Project are hand-crafted in Africa by village cultural artisans. Each purchase contributes directly to Africa Heartwood Project, supporting the livelihoods of communities in Africa. This non-profit, run by passionate volunteers, fights poverty and promotes community development in West Africa. Your choice makes a difference, blending the joy of music with social impact.
