The pen is shipped with no ink in the tip to prevent leaking. It seems that the pen is "dried up" upon receiving it but IT IS NOT DRY:) You will need to the shake pen up and down vigorously for 30 seconds to mix up the ingredients. Then remove the cap, dab the pen tip a few times on a piece of paper and then depress/hold the tip to the paper until the ink begins flowing. While using the pen, you will need to stop periodically to shake the pen to keep the ink flowing.
