DESCRIPTION: Imagine millions of colorful butterflies flying overhead, in front of you, hanging in trees and on your clothes. Why Monarchs migrate to the same places in Mexico remains a mystery. It's suggested that regional magnetism from nearby mountains (a former mining town) acts as a homing beacon for them. I visited Rosario and Chincua sanctuaries twice, in 2013 and 2014. The first visit was a failure; it was cold and rainy, so the Monarchs were dormant. Imagine millions hanging from tree branches. I vowed to return, which I did the next year. I spent two days there, taking thousands of photos. This is my favorite from both trips. ORIGINAL FINE ART: All artwork is taken and edited by Nedim Slijepcevic.
