PROPORTIONING
~In a disc/drum system, proportioning reduces rear brake pressure during hard braking to prevent rear lock-up. As the car dives forward, less rear force is needed. A disc/disc system requires different balance, which a 4-wheel disc valve is designed to handle.
METERING
~In disc/drum setups, metering slightly delays front disc engagement to let the rear drums catch up—improving stability and reducing front pad wear. Metering is not used in disc/disc systems.
RESIDUAL PRESSURE
~(Not applicable for disc/disc)
Drum brakes use a 10 lb residual valve to maintain line pressure and improve pedal feel. Disc/disc valves do not include this.
SYSTEM FAILURE WARNING
~The combination valve includes a warning switch that alerts you if one side of the brake system fails
