Brother Simeon based his depiction of the Last Supper on icons of this event painted by Greek iconographer Photios Kontoglou (1895-1965), who revived classical iconography in Greece in the twentieth century. As Christ initiates the great miracle of the Eucharist, the Apostles look at each other in awe. Saint John the Beloved leans on Jesus' breast, and Judas reaches for a bowl of food in our Mystical Supper icon.
