The Powerband is 2-5/8" wide to take advantage of the available surface area of the drum. When going this route, it's always advised to make sure the drum being used is flat. Often seemingly good used drums are actually warn slightly where there narrower factory band was applying. If this is the case, the wider band will only grab on the edges leading to very premature failure. Starting with a brand new drum is a great way to know for sure!
