Azulejos, or Portuguese ceramic tiles, decorate all types of surfaces in Portugal, ranging from walls of buildings (palaces, churches, railway stations and ordinary homes) to benches, fountains, tables, staircases, and house names and numbers. Our reproductions are from Moorish and Spanish inspiration like the very first azulejos found in Portugal in the 16th century. The tiles are made in a small workshop by Amélia and José Sá Nogueira, a couple of passionate artisans, amongst the best Portuguese ceramists who work for museums and palaces in Portugal. They are completely handmade and hand painted using traditional techniques, respecting historic colors and patterns.
