Yair Emanuel is one of Israel's foremost designers of affordable contemporary Judaica. This beautiful hanukkah menorah is crafted from hammered nickel and each of the candle holders is highlighted with multi-coloured rings. This elegant yet modern menorah will be the pride of your hanukkah decorations, enjoyed by your kids and family as you remember the Hanukah miracle of light. Jewish people around the world will be celebrating hanukkah from December 23rd. The menorah is lit from right to left. On the first night, place one candle on the right and use the 'shamash' which is the raised up candle to light the others. The shamash in Jewish tradition was the 'sexton' in the synagogue or was the person who served the rabbi. In this way the shamash candle 'serves' to light the others during Hanukkah. Every night one more candle is added and you must always light the newest (leftmost) candle first. The menorah is suitable for both thin traditional candles and fat, longer lasting candles. This menorah comes in a beautiful Emanuel gold embossed box. NOTE: Candles not included. The artist Yair Emanuel, a graduate of the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, lives and works in Jerusalem. Emanuel's designs are based upon a fusion of traditional motifs and ancient Jewish manuscripts with modern and Oriental art. Vivid and harmonious colors as well as a mixture of the old and the new characterize Emanuel's work, which he designs and crafts in his Jerusalem studio. The principle techniques utilized encompass painting on silk, hand-embroidery, raw silk applique, painting on wood and metal designs. Among the staff in his studio are new immigrants and handicapped employees and a portion of the studio's profit is donated to charity.
