Ban Lan Gen, Isatis (Isatis tinctoria) is a species of plants from the genus Isatis. In total from 30 to 80 plants belong to this genus. Isatis tinctoria has a simple bare, up-straight stem, sometimes stiff-haired from below, reaching a meter in length. The root of the plant goes deep into the ground. The leaves of Isatis are bluish-green in color. Small, golden yellow flowers are collected in a corymbose inflorescence. The origin of Isatis tinctoria is Central and Western Asia, the Caucasus and Eastern Siberia, Central and Southeast Europe.
