  • Mitsuo Aida: Calligrapher and poet. Born in Ashikaga, Tochigi Prefecture, in 1924 (Taisho 13). He graduated from the old Ashikaga Prefectural Middle School. He encountered tanka poetry and Zen during his middle school years and later expressed his unique worldview through calligraphy. In 1984 (Showa 59), his work became widely known with the publication of "Human Existence."
