A Silent sweep seconds hand (no ticking) effortlessly moves around the dial which is protected by a glass lens. The fully illuminated back dial turns on and off automatically depending on the amount of light in the room. If preferred the lighted dial can be turned off completely. Clock uses 1 AA battery, and 3 AA batteries power the back light, not included.
