Description

Over 150 years old, the Flying Eagle Cent was struck for circulation in 1857 and 1858. The one cent piece was minted of a copper-nickel composition and designed by James Barton Longacre. The obverse displays a flying eagle and the reverse shows a wreath of corn, wheat, cotton and tobacco leaves. The Flying Eagle was too difficult to strike because of the high relief and was replaced in 1859 by the Indian Head Penny. Certificate of Authenticity is included.
