The ToughArmor MB852M2PO-B replaces the old slim CD/DVD slot with 2 x high speed M.2 NVMe SSDs. It fits into the 9.5 mm ultra slim optical drive bay (ODD) and uses removable M.2 slots (trays) for quick access and effortless maintenance.
The M.2 SSD is usually installed on a motherboard or PCIe card and secured with tiny screws. Installing and removing the SSD can be a time-consuming process and makes the M.2 SSD the ideal choice for business applications where simple maintenance with minimal downtime is required.
Note: To also support M.2M.2 22110 SSDs, MB852M2PO-B is longer than a conventional Ultra-Slim ODD bay (159.3 mm). Before purchasing, make sure the ultra slim bay of your system has enough space.
The ToughArmor MB852M2PO-B features a patent-pending adjustable M.2 bracket for tool-free installation and removal of the SSDs. Simply insert the M.2 SSD (2230, 2242, 2260, 2280 and 22110), move the M.2 adjustable bracket until it fixes the M.2 SSD firmly and close the lid. To fully take advantage of the speed of M.2 NVMe SSD,each drive bay of the MB852M2PO-B uses its own PCIe Gen 4 OCuLink (SFF-8612) port and supports data transfer speed of up to 64Gbps, which is up to 2 times faster than PCIe 3.0 and 10 times faster than the SATA interface.
The special slimline slot (tray) is made entirely of aluminium and acts as a heat sink to dissipate the heat generated by the M.2 NVMe SSD through large ventilation openings in the top and bottom of the removable frame.
Thermal pads bridge the gap between the contact surfaces and conduct the heat from the M.2 SSD to the larger metal surface where the airflow can quickly dissipate it.
