The FR-401M captures sound from three sides, allowing you to record a room while rejecting noises from the back of the mic. It's ideal for recording a live performance but not the audience. The back of mic should be directed at the audience to avoid recording it. The MXL FR-401M can also be used for stage performances, interviews, podcasting, and studio recording sessions where room sound is desired.
