Description

On April 6, 2018, American Airlines announced its plans to more than double its 787 Dream­linerfleet with a new order for 47 of the super-efficient airplane plus 28 options. The 47 787s were valued at more than $12 billion at list prices and was to make American Airlines the largest 787 customer in the Western Hemisphere. Built with lightweight composite materials and powered by advanced engines, the Dream­liner family lowers operating costs by more than 20 percent compared to previous airplanes, and nearly 1 0 percent compared to today's competing jets.The 787-9, a stretch of the 787-8, can fly 290 passengers up to 7,635 nautical miles. The 787-9 variant features four cabins, all with seatback screens, in-seat power, and WiFi connectivity. This model, bearing RN N842AA and fleet 8MA, represents one of the first 787-9 delivered with the Silver Eagle,. mica-free paint. The airline took delivery of the aircraft on May 29, 2025. The aircraft flew from Everett Paine Field (PAE) to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) on Flight 9824, departing at 3:20pm and arriving in Dallas at 8:21 pm.
