Troubleshooting Steps for Squeaking Noise on Steering Shaft:
1 Check whether the noise is caused by the malfunction of the torque converter or ATF oil pump.It can be judged by temporarily dismantle the power steering oil pump drive belt. If the noise still exists after dismantle the belt, the ATF oil pump is not working well.
2 Check whether the oil (high pressure) hose is rubbing with other parts. If yes,re-fix the oil hose.
3 Check whether the steering shaft universal joint, tie rods or ball studs are loose. If necessary, tighten loose fasteners or replace defective parts.
