Description

Quinn Hughes became the 15th captain in Vancouver Canucks history on Sept. 11, 2023, and the first full-time defenseman to wear the “C” since Kevin McCarthy (1979-82). In 2024, he won the Norris Trophy after leading all defensemen with a career-high 92 points and becoming the fastest player in Canucks history — and third-fastest NHL defenseman — to reach 300 assists. Hughes later set the franchise record for assists by a defenseman and reached 400 career points in fewer than 450 games. Drafted seventh overall in 2018 after starring at the University of Michigan and with USA Hockey's National Team Development Program, he debuted with Vancouver in 2019 and made the NHL All-Rookie Team in 2020. The Orlando native, from a family rich in hockey pedigree, signed a six-year, $47.1 million contract in 2021 and has since become one of the league's most dynamic blueliners
