Description

Shiloh National Military Park preserves the site of the largest battle of the western campaign of 1862. Fought for control of the Mississippi River Valley and possession of railroads in the western Confederacy, the April 6-7, 1862 battle claimed 23,746 causalities and convinced America that the war would not be won without great sacrifice in time and human life.
