First released by Gibson in 1960, the hummingbird was their first square-shoulder acoustic dreadnought model. Stylish and versatile, the Hummingbird was quickly and enthusiastically embraced by musicians across a wide range of genres. Now, Epiphone is proud to introduce a newly updated Hummingbird Standard as part of the Inspired by Gibson Collection. Crafted from all solid tonewoods, the Hummingbird Standard is designed to deliver outstanding tone that will continue to improve with age. The back and sides are made of solid mahogany, paired with a solid spruce top for the timeless tonewood recipe that has made the Hummingbird's sound iconic. The neck is carved from one piece of solid mahogany and topped with a genuine rosewood fretboard featuring 20 frets and elegant mother-of-pearl split parallelogram inlays—one of the signature visual hallmarks of the Hummingbird design. The neck has a comfortable Rounded C profile and is joined to the body with a tapered dovetail joint. The 60s-style Kalamazoo headstock is adorned with the Epiphone logo and Gibson crown inlaid in mother-of-pearl and fitted with a bone nut and Epiphone Deluxe tuners with a gold finish and Keystone buttons for solid, stable tuning. Other classic details include the iconic tortoise Hummingbird pickguard with its instantly recognizable graphics, a reverse belly rosewood bridge with a bone saddle, ivory bridge pins, and a stunning Cherry Sunburst finish.
