These rods are precision ground and held to a strict diameter and straightness tolerance. Often called Stressproof, they are stress-relieved to minimize warping during machining. Contains higher amounts of carbon and manganese than other easy-to-machine carbon steels, 1144 offers higher yield strength and hardness, even without further heat treatment.
