Carob (Ceratonia Siliqua) grows and is cultivated in the Mediterranean countries, subtropical regions, in India, Argentina and Brazil, found in northern Africa, the Middle East and some countries of Central America. Ceratonia Siliqua is an evergreen tree of medium height (from 6 to 12 m) with a wide crown. The leaves are leathery, unpaired, dense. The flowers are small, collected in a brush. Brown non-opening bean fruit develop from female flowers. A tree grows on dry stony soil, letting strong mighty roots into crevices and cracks. Fruiting period can last for about 100 years.
