Phosphate buffered saline (PBS) is a commonly used solution in the cell culture manufacturing process and in the early stages of process development. It helps to maintain the pH of cell culture media by acting as a buffer. PBS can be used for various purposes, such as washing cells, transporting cells or tissue, diluting cells for counting, and preparing reagents. It is formulated without calcium and magnesium. Hygia's balanced salt solutions are produced in a cGMP-compliant facility and are filtered through a 0.1 μm sterile filter before being aseptically filled in a FFU with 100 stages. Filter integrity tests are conducted before and after filtration, and each lot of PBS is tested for sterility, pH, osmolality, and endotoxin.
